ALDIN Project yields result as a person with disability appointed as a magistrate in Ondo state

A project was launched last year by Association of Lawyers with Disabilities In Nigeria (ALDIN) targeted at making the justice administration system accessible to persons with disabilities in Nigeria.

With this background, the Ondo State Judicial Service Commission has appointed and sworn in a man with achondroplasia (dwarfism, short stature), Dele Taiwo as one of the magistrates on Monday, 3rd February, 2020 in Akure, the state capital.

In a Twitter post shared on Tuesday by the National Assistant Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Bar Association, Lawal Akorede Habeeb, Esq. referring to Dele Taiwo said “Nothing stops you from standing tall!”
“Congratulations Your Worship – Dele Taiwo – on your swearing in as a Magistrate in the Ondo State Judiciary!”

The swearing-in was conducted by the Chief Judge of Ondo State, Hon. Justice O. O. Akeredolu. Also present were the Acting Chief Registrar, Mr. B. J. Akinwumi, Deputy Chief Registrars of Ondo State Judiciary and, members of staff of Ondo State Judiciary, family members and well wishers.

In her congratulatory message, Hon. Justice Akuleredolu enjoined the new magistrates to shun all forms of corruption and be God-fearing in discharging their duties.

Mr. Dele Taiwo is a graduate of the prestigious Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko and until his appointment, is known to be a man of astute integrity when it comes to practising law. (inclusivenews)
