FG appoints foremost disability rights advocate as a member of Technical Working Group of National Development Plan

The Executive Director, Centre for Citizens With Disabilities(CCD) Mr. David Obinna Anyaele on Wednesday was appointed by Federal Government as a member of technical working group on development of National Development Plan.

This was disclosed by The Program Assistant, CCD, Comrade. Musa M. Musa in a press statement sent to The Qualitative Magazine, he stated that The Federal Government of Nigeria has appointed Mr. David O. Anyaele, Executive Director, Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) and Convener, Coalition of Disability Organizations (CODO) as a member “Nigeria Agenda 2050” Technical Working Group (TWG).

In a letter titled Appointment as a Member of Technical Working Group (TWG) for the Preparation of Medium-Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) 2021 -2025 and Nigeria Agenda 2050 signed by the Honorable Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning; Prince Clem Ikanade Agba dated 5th June, 2020 states that Mr. Anyaele would be working on the thematic areas “Cross Cutting Issue (Employment, Gender and People with disability) for the Plans.

At the inauguration of the TWG, Prince Agba says that the Plans are to address development challenges in all aspect of the country’s national life with the agreed time frame. The Minister further stated that the aim of this inclusive approach is to have a true National Development Plan where we use our diversity as our strength in the development of our country Nigeria. Technical Working Group mandate is to develop a long-term Development Plan tagged ‘Nigeria Agenda 2050’ and a medium-term National Development Plan (2021-2025) which are both meant to replace the current Nigeria Vision 20:2020 and the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP 2017-2020). The Nigeria Vision 20:2020 will lapse in December, 2020.
