Gombe Targets 40,000 Vulnerable Persons including PWDs For 2022 GoHealth Programme

By William Attah

GOMBE – Gombe State’s Contributory Healthcare Management Agency, GoHealth, has commenced the enrollment of poor and vulnerable persons for its basic health care provider programme.

According to the Director, Planning, Research and Statistics of GoHealth, Tanimu Umar, 40,000 persons comprising pregnant women, 65-year-old persons, children under the age of five, people with disabilities and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are the targets for the enrollment.

Already, well-trained officers have been mobilised to handle the 10-day enrollment process at various centres across the State.

They will be closely supervised by GoHealth staff, supported by Ward Development Committees in all the 114 wards of the State as well as GoHealth Desk Officers.

The basic requirement for enrollment is the National Identity Number (NIN), due to its huge advantage to tracking subscribers who would be enrolled within the 10-day period allotted for the exercise.

In Pantami and Gidan Magani Primary Health Care Centres, Ahmed Bello and Hauwa Danjuma separately explained to our correspondent how smooth the process had been.

They stated however that aside from the failure of some without the National Identification Number, some others were not qualified based on the specified guidelines.

According to Ahmed Bello, “We are enrolling beneficiaries for the Basic Health Care Provision Fund. We are five in number enrolling beneficiaries here in Pantami PHC. Some of the clients came without the NIN, and some others are not eligible.

“It takes us some minutes to explain to them. We intend to enrol beneficiaries within this area through the sensitisation of traditional and religious leaders,” he explained.
