The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Kayode Fayemi on Disability Matters, Mr Tunde Ogunrinde has commended his principal for appointing a governing board for Ekiti State Agency for Persons with Disabilities.
He disclosed this through a message he sent to TQM about the appointment that was announced on Monday.
‘According to SSA , Mr. Tunde Steve Ogunrinde, “I am pleased with my Governor Fayemi for keeping his promise of constituting a Governing board for the Office of Disability Affairs”.
He lamented that it is unfair South Western states of Nigeria are not doing enough for persons with disabilities apart from Lagos State, it is only Ekiti State that have come close because of the effort of the Government towards disability issues in the last 2 years.
“Osun, Ogun, and Ondo States are establish an agency for persons with disabilities, not to talk of a PWD representative in the Government.”
Ogunrinde pleaded for patience among Ekiti indigenes with Disabilities because the present government is looking into all the problems of persons with disabilities and have set up modalities towards addressing them through the newly constituted governing board.
The newly appointed governing board of the Ekiti State Agency for Persons with Disabilities are: Chairman – Akin Obanise (Physically challenged), members include: Adetuase Emmanuel (blind), Mr Ogunbiyi Azeez (Person With Albinism), Mrs Bukola Fakunle (Deaf).
The SSA , Mr. Tunde Steve Ogunrinde is also a person with disability, he is a deaf person who appointed by Gov. Fayemi to provide a guide for government to address numerous problems of persons with disabilities in the state and appointing members of the governing board of Ekiti Agency for Persons with disabilities by the governor is one of the achievements of SSA since he was appointed.
