Edo State Disability Bill: SSG promises to fast track the process of its passage

TQM report,

Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities(JONAPWD) Edo State chapter lead by The Chapter Chairman, Ann Ojugo embarked on a Advocacy visit to Secretary of The State Government, Barr. Osarodion Ogie.

The JONAPWD Edo Chapter, Chairman highlighted the importance of the rights of Persons with Disabilities.

She pointed that lack of law protecting PWDs, have lead to denying of opportunities to PWDs and their human dignity are not being upheld, they can’t access public infrastructures and the negative attitude of people against PWDs have affected their self esteem, deprived them of economic, social and political opportunities.

She stressed that if the state’s effort towards poverty reduction would be achieved, Disability law should be enacted because that’s the first step towards its achievement. PWDs are the poorest of the poor so whatever that would enhance their productivity is an effort to reduce poverty.
