“Your Welfare Is Our Priority”—ES, NCPWD James Lalu

In commemoration of this year’s Eid-el -Fitri, the Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons With Disabilities, Mr. James David Lalu has reiterated the Commission’s commitment to the welfare of Persons With Disabilities in the society.

Speaking at the get- together organized by the Women’s wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) today 3rd May, 2022 at the PWDs’ Settlement, Karon-Majiji, Abuja, the ES reassured the Emir of the community and other stakeholders present that President Muhammadu Buhari has given the Commission the mandate to ensure better living for Persons with Disabilities in Nigeria.

“You can be rest assured that your community will experience visible change that all of us will be proud of by the end of 2022.

“According to Lalu, the Commission has captured provisions for scholarships for children with disabilities and those whose parents are disabled.

He further seized the occasion to appreciate Women for turning out to show love to the community even as Ramadan is being celebrated.

Earlier in her remarks, the National Women Leader of APC, Dr. Beta Edu congratulated the ES for his tenacity and commitments since his appointment as the Executive Secretary of the Commission.

She also said that PWDs are lucky to have such a Young passionate and humble man at the helms of affairs.

Hon. Beta went further to encourage the community to make themselves available during electioneering so as to have capable representatives emerge for the betterment of their community.

In an excited mood, the Secretary of the Disability Village Karon-Majiji, Alhaji Muhammed Dantani expressed appreciation on behalf of the Emir and the entire community for this uncommon demonstration of love.

“This occasion is a clear indication that we are not forgotten” he said.

He further thanked the ES for his positive plans towards educational advancements of their children.

According to him, the population of the disabled persons in the Settlement has risen to 1,181, with adults 520 in number while children are 661. He lamented that out of the 661 children, only 300 are in school.
