Women Group Visits Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Presents 4 Policy Agenda For Women Inclusion in Anambra

By Chidimma Ajemba,

Nwanyi Bu Ife, a women group made up of 22 women organisations including women with disabilities in Anambra paid a courtesy visit to Anambra State Disability Rights Commission on Tuesday 22 February 2021.

The group led by Mrs Eucharia Anekwe,a commissioner at DRC expressed excitement on the recent inauguration of the Anambra State Disability Rights Commission and it’s members on February 1.

She stated that already the establishment of Disability Rights Commission was part of the priority agenda set up by group last year.”

As at last year November Nwanyi Bu Ife was talking about the need to establish the DRC without knowing that the establishment was already in the pipe line so we must commend our dear Governor.”

So we came up with 4 points women agenda policy and we are here to present a copy to you and other members of the Transition Committee”. Mrs Anekwe concluded.

Responding to the group the Chairman and CEO Anambra State Disability Rights Commission, Barrister Chuks Ezewuzie appreciated Nwanyi Bu Ife for the effort in making women take frontline roles in politics.

“I can’t imagine the world without women. In my office here the women contribute immensely to the great successes we record everyday.

“Nwanyi je, o ga ejetakali. Empower a woman and you empower the world. Women are so multitasking that if given the opportunity in politics they will perform excellently. I am strong supporter of women full participation in politics and that is the inclusion plan we are talking about.

“Barr Ezewuzie urged the group to continue to sensitise women on the need to come out and be part of the politics citing the ongoing Anambra Talent Databank as an opportunity Anambra Women could cease to be part of the incoming administration. In her vote of thanks, Mrs Eucharia Adukwu appreciated the Chairman for his warm welcome and for being one of the strong voices supporting women and persons with disabilities.

“For choosing Dr Oby Ezekwesili to chair the transition committee is a good sign that women are beginning to take centre stage and from all indications we know she is performing well.

“Sir please extend our heart felt appreciation to her and other transition members and please inform her that Nwanyi Bu Ife women group would want to know her intentions for 2023 General Election”.(DRC)
