TAF Africa urges PWDs to come out and Exercise their voting rights

The Chief Executive Officer and Founder of The Albino Foundation, Jake Epelle, on Friday advised Persons with disabilities to go out and vote during the 2023 general elections.

The founder also advised PWDs not to give in to vote -buying, rather they should vote candidates of their choice.

He equally advised them to be vigilant and take safety measures when they suspect any signs of violence.

Epelle gave the advice during the full launch of its first disability App sponsored by the European Union in Abuja.

Epelle urged political parties to respect the rule of law and accept the election results as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission

He said “Candidates should please respect everything within the confines of the law especially the Electoral Act.

“Let me also use this opportunity to all our community with PWDs to please go out and exercise your franchise. Do not be burdened by the state of insecurity but it is also important that you stay safe wherever you are.

“Do not give in to vote-buying and violence. We are a very peaceful community and the opportunity for us to participate in electoral process is here.”

Speaking at the event, The European Union Ambassador to Nigeria, Samuela Isopi, promised to always support the PWDs.

Isopi said “Inclusivity is crucial to EU and it is something the EU observer mission 2023 will be looking at.

“We will continue to advance the situation and the rights of the PWDs.”

Other dignitaries at the event were Clement Nwankwo of PLAC, Canadian Embassador to Nigeria Jamie Christoff, Lois Auta from Cedar Seed foundation, Obinna Ekujereonye, ED, DAI, Agbo Christian Obiora from The Qualitative Magazine and many others.
