Senior Special Assistant to the President on Disability Matters, Hon. Mohammed Abba Isa, promptly upon resumption of office paid a courtesy call on the House Committee Chairman on Disability, Hon. (Or.) Bashir Dawodu.
Speaking during the visit, the SSA commended the House Committee Chairman on his relentless efforts so far in ensuring that disability gets the necessary legislative support that it requires.
He specifically commended his open door policy, humility and extreme passion for the work. He assured that Mr. President notes the support of actors like him and desire that they work together to ensure inclusion of persons with disabilities in the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also stated that the office of the Chairman House Committee on Disability is the first to attract his visit and that that was obvious considering the relevance of instruments of legislation in the achievement of the inclusion agenda.
The obviously elated House Committee Chairman on Disability, Hon. (Dr.) Bashir Dawodu expressed his excitement over the visit.
He pointed that his august visitor represents the Executive while he represents the legislature, hence they have become a complete team ready to take on the gospel of inclusion to the uttermost part of Nigeria and beyond, and to achieve incredible result for the benefit of people with disabilities in Nigeria.
He went on to relate stories of his involvement with people with disabilities at every stage in his life, especially in schools and also as medical evaluator on disability in the United States of America.
All these experiences he said accounted for the passion in him and his all-out interest for the betterment of persons with disabilities.
Dr. Bashir Dawodu also took to explain the various stages of intervention they are making at their office and the ultimate goal thereof.
The two leaders also discussed on salient issues regarding their individual assignment and the point of concurrence for them.
They identified areas of cooperation and synergy and resolved to work together to deliver on their shared mandates. Both team committed to continue to meet frequently for now to ensure the issue of inclusive budgeting for disability cause. Dr. Bashir Dawodu in reciprocating the good gestures of the SSA promised to organized a reception dinner in his honour.
