The Plateau State Disability Rights Commission is open for collaboration with Non profit organizations who are willing to partner and bring positive impact to the disability community in Plateau State.
This statement was made by Hon Kyennan Mizim, the Chairman of the Plateau State Disability Rights Commission in her office while receiving a team from Sightsavers International in her office.
The visit which took place on Thursday 21st October 2021 was initiated by Sightsavers International who are in the state to brainstorm and synergize with stakeholders on how to come in with their expertise on preventing blindness and giving a voice to people with disabilities in the state.
In her introductory speech, Sightsavers country Director of programmes operations, Mrs Joy Shuaibu said they came to register their presence in the state and to inform the commission as a major stakeholder about their upcoming project proposal preparation.
Accompanying her on the visit are Dr Selben Penzin, Sightsavers senior program manager and Mr Abalis Dasat, HANDS eye Health manager.
Hon. Mizim use the opportunity to invite them to be part of the World White Cane celebration coming up on the 12th of November to commemorate the World white cane day observed worldwide in October.
The team promised to be part of the event and subsequent engagements organise by the commission.
Sighsavers is a non profit organization whose vision is of a world where no one is blind from avoidable causes, and where people with disabilities can participate equally in society.
