In a remarkable display of commitment to inclusive education, SafeHost International Initiative/Academy celebrated its 6th Graduation Ceremony with a vibrant and heartwarming event titled “Speech/Prize Giving Day” on Wednesday. Mrs. Ngozi Joy Belolisa, a prominent figure in the institution, used the occasion to reaffirm the school’s dedication to providing an inclusive learning environment for all children, including those with disabilities.
During her opening remarks, Mrs. Belolisa highlighted the resilience and steadfastness of the school, which has stood the test of time since its inception. “This is our 6th Graduation Ceremony; it is not easy to stand strong for six years. It is a vision that comes from God, and that’s why it has lasted for six years,” she passionately declared.
SafeHost International Initiative has carved a niche as a haven where every child can express themselves freely and learn in an environment that promotes growth and self-improvement. “The school is an inclusive environment, a vision to make ordinary things extraordinary. It is a place where every child is free to express themselves and learn to get better. Our core compotence is learning to get better,” Mrs. Belolisa emphasized.
The school’s commitment to inclusivity is evident in its intentional focus on neurodivergent children, ensuring they receive the care and attention they need. “We are intentional about neurodivergent children because we are poised towards taking care of them, and neurotypical children are also taken care of. The essence of coming together is for better understanding among the children, which will eliminate discriminatory practices in the future,” Mrs. Belolisa explained.
She assured parents and stakeholders that Safehost is a sanctuary where every child, regardless of their condition, feels safe and well-cared for. The school’s mission is not only to educate but also to raise children with strong character, capable of withstanding the challenges of tomorrow.
The event was a celebration of achievements, both academic and extracurricular. The graduating pupils were congratulated and urged to continue being shining stars as they advance in their academic journeys. The kindergartners transitioning to grade 1 were warmly welcomed and wished well in their new academic challenges.
Mrs. Belolisa also took the opportunity to express her gratitude to the parents for their unwavering support and understanding in adhering to the school’s regulations. “We appreciate the parents for the support and understanding towards keeping to the regulations of the school,” she said.
SafeHost ‘s inclusive approach was showcased throughout the ceremony, with numerous children with disabilities receiving prizes in various categories and participating actively in the event’s activities. The school’s inclusive ethos was palpable as students with disabilities were prominently featured in games, drama, choreography, presentations, and dances.
The prizes awarded spanned multiple categories, including academics, games, sports, character, and crafts, reflecting the school’s holistic approach to education. Parents who have shown exceptional commitment and contributions to the school’s success were also honored, underscoring the community’s collaborative spirit.
The ceremony was a colorful and lively affair, marked by an impressive turnout of parents who came to celebrate their children’s achievements. The head boy, one of the graduating students, added a touching moment to the event by presenting a prize to Mrs. Belolisa, acknowledging her exceptional care and dedication to all the students.
In her concluding remarks, Mrs. Belolisa reiterated the school’s vision and commitment to inclusive education. “SafeHost is a place where every child should feel safe and properly taken care of irrespective of the condition of the child. We are concerned with raising children with strong character to withstand the challenges of tomorrow,” she said.
