In a powerful address, Hon. Olanrewaju Oladosu, Special Assistant to the Osun State Governor on Disability Matters, highlighted the numerous strides made under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke. Hon. Oladosu praised the governor’s dedication to empowering Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) across Osun State through various initiatives. These efforts include substantial financial grants provided through the State’s Community Development Agency (SCDA) for skill-building and livelihood projects. These grants are helping PWDs establish skills acquisition centers, promoting self-reliance and long-term economic stability.
Hon. Oladosu also commended Governor Adeleke’s monumental decision to sign the Osun Disabilities Act into law, a long-awaited bill that had been pending for over 20 years. This landmark legislation sets a precedent for upholding the rights of PWDs in Osun, ensuring they have access to opportunities and protections under the law.
In addition to her contributions to disability advocacy, Mrs. Adeleke’s initiatives include a N50,000 grant for women traders, which has uplifted many petty traders across the state. Her Excellency has also extended her compassion to children with special needs, providing them with care and resources during celebrations such as Independence Day. These gestures underscore her commitment to inclusivity and her understanding of the diverse needs within the community.
