OjayAjaifia Foundation Pre-Launches in Abuja, Sets Out to Transform Lives of Children with Disabilities

Abuja came alive on Tuesday as stakeholders, disability rights advocates, and development partners gathered for the Pre-Launch Engagement of the OjayAjaifia Foundation for Children with Disabilities (OFCD)—a new initiative with a bold vision to transform the lives of children with disabilities across Nigeria.

Welcoming participants, Ojay Gwueke, founder of the foundation, expressed profound gratitude for the show of support, describing it as a sign that “the vision of OFCD belongs not just to one person, but to a collective determined to give children with disabilities a fair chance at life.”

Founded in April 2025, the OjayAjaifia Foundation was born out of love and a firm conviction that disability should never be a barrier to opportunity. According to Gwueke, the foundation is built on the belief that “every child—regardless of disability—deserves to dream, create, and lead.”

Despite being only a few months old, the foundation has already begun to make an impact. It has organized medical outreach programs in the Karmajiji community, one of Abuja’s largest settlements for persons with disabilities. Through its “Possibility Through Art” initiative, OFCD has been inspiring children to express their talents and creativity. The foundation has also extended long-term support to Emmanuella and Eric, two children with disabilities, signaling its commitment to touching lives one child at a time.

“This is more than just an event,” Gwueke said. “Today is the beginning of a journey we must walk together. Our goal is to look back at what we’ve done so far, build partnerships, and create a future where children with disabilities are not defined by limitations, but celebrated as artists, leaders, and change-makers.”

The event was not just a platform for speeches but a lively conversation where participants were encouraged to share ideas, strengthen collaborations, and see themselves as partners in building an inclusive Nigeria.

Among dignitaries present were Comrade Chris Agbo, Executive Director of The Qualitative Magazine and founder of JOMIDA Foundation for Persons with Disabilities; Dr. Chike Okogwu, CEO of CARE-Nigeria, who delivered the keynote address; and Cedric Owuru of CBM Global, alongside several other disability advocates and development actors.

Their presence underscored the importance of building strong networks in the disability inclusion space, as participants pledged to work with OFCD in creating sustainable opportunities for children with disabilities.

The official launch of the OjayAjaifia Foundation for Children with Disabilities (OFCD) is scheduled for September 27th, 2025, and expectations are already high that the foundation will play a pivotal role in shaping inclusive development in Nigeria.

For many in attendance, the pre-launch was a reminder that true inclusion begins when society chooses to see the potential in every child, not the barriers.
