NAPWPD Mourns the Tragic Death of Disability Advocate, Comrade Bala Tsoho Musa, MFR

Abuja, October 19, 2024 – The National Association of Persons with Physical Disabilities (NAPWPD) has expressed profound grief over the brutal murder of Comrade Bala Tsoho Musa, MFR, a renowned disability rights advocate, who was killed by unknown assailants at his residence in Bwari, Abuja.

In an official statement, NAPWPD extended heartfelt condolences to the family of the late advocate, acknowledging his immense contributions to the disability rights movement. The association described Comrade Tsoho as a trailblazer whose tireless efforts were instrumental in advancing the welfare and inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria.

A Legacy of Dedication and Leadership

Comrade Tsoho, who served as the first National Secretary of NAPWPD, played a pivotal role in shaping the association’s mission and initiatives. His visionary leadership not only laid the foundation for disability advocacy in Nigeria but also empowered countless individuals within the PWD community.

In addition to his national leadership, Comrade Tsoho served as Director of the FCT Vocational Rehabilitation Centre in Kuchiko, where he championed skill development programs for PWDs. His outstanding contributions to national development earned him the prestigious Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) award, further cementing his legacy as a committed public servant and advocate.

A Call to Continue the Fight for Inclusion

NAPWPD emphasized that Comrade Tsoho’s passion for justice, empowerment, and equal opportunity will leave a lasting impact. His work, they said, serves as a rallying call for others to continue the push for an inclusive society, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Speaking on behalf of the association, Hon. Rilwan Mohammed, the National President of NAPWPD, expressed solidarity with the grieving family. “Comrade Tsoho’s life embodied hope, resilience, and determination. His tireless advocacy will continue to inspire the future of disability inclusion in Nigeria,” he said.

Hon. Mohammed offered prayers for the family’s strength in this difficult time and asked that Allah grant Comrade Tsoho eternal rest in Aljanah Firdaus. “His legacy will live on, guiding us as we continue to pursue the inclusive vision he dedicated his life to,” he added.

The Search for Justice

The tragic death of Comrade Bala Tsoho Musa has sent shockwaves through the disability community and beyond, with many calling for a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.

As the community mourns the loss of a pioneer and champion, NAPWPD vowed to honor his legacy by redoubling efforts toward achieving the inclusive society that Comrade Tsoho envisioned—a future where all PWDs can thrive with dignity and equality.

This loss, while deeply painful, will only strengthen the resolve of the disability rights movement to carry forward the torch he so passionately held.
