The National association of persons with physical disabilities (NAPWPD) FCT chapter have appointed 7-MAN CARETAKER Committee to pilot the affairs of the association for the next one year with the mandate to effectively make the association functional and responsive.
On a general meeting of the association on Thursday, the group which the tenure of their former executives have elapsed, in a meeting convened by the Chairman, Abubakar Sharhu, decided to appoint 7 members with the mandate of repositioning the association and set structure for election of substantive executives at the end of one year.
In a unanimous decision of the members who were in attendance both virtual and physical, the following members were nominated:
Chairman- Christian Obiora Agbo
Vice Chairman – Aver Akighir
Financial Secretary- Israel Akpan
Social welfare – Victoria Sani
PRO – Godson Elekwachi
Asst Secretary – Umar Abdullahi Adoro and
Secretary – Comrade Musa M. Musa
Barr. Florence Marcus administered oath of office on the new executives after the dissolution of the former executives.
The new executive Chairman, Mr Christian Obiora Agbo in his acceptance speech, said that he is going to run an inclusive government where everyone will be involved and play a part towards the success of the association. He charged all members of the executive to be above board as they work to reposition the association.
Speaking further, he said that it is time for all the great minds within the cluster to come together and chart a common front for the benefit of indigent members especially those in the rural communities.
He said that it is time for the cluster to take their pride of place in the disability community and there is a lot to gain when the cluster association is revived.
He assured that the new executive will do their best to move the association foward. He thank the association for the opportunity and trust they repose on the new executive, promising that they will do their best for the good of the association. He called for support from members and urged members to make sacrifices for the survival of the association.
National association of persons with physical disabilities (NAPWPD) is an assembly of persons with mobility related and physical challenges, established to foster unity among and within persons with physical disabilities.
It is a pressure group registered with Corporate Affias Commission aims at advocating for better systems and structures conducive for the socioeconomic and political participation and inclusion of persons with physical disabilities.
The association has structures from the National, State and down to local level with functional executives.
