National Association of Persons With Physical Disabilities NAPWPD FCT on Tuesday paid a visit to Karmajiji, a disability colony in the FCT along airport road.
The Chairman of NAPWPD FCT, Agbo Christian Obiora, the Secretary, Comrade Musa Muazu Musa and the Financial Secretary, Israel Akpan were present at the visit.
The Saraki (Emir) of The Disability Colony, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Katsina was handy to receive the visitors.
The Chairman, Agbo Christian Obiora in his remark expressed gratitude for the reception from the emir.
He said that their visit is to present themselves to the emir and identify their members who are in the colony because they intend to carry everyone along ( Leave No One Behind).
He also said that the problems of the colony is the problem of the entire persons with physical disability because a good of them resides in the colony.
He assured the Emir that the current executive will carry everyone of them along and that they will be transparent in their dealings and they will reach out to the public to attract opportunities for the cluster.
He also said that they are here to revive the cluster and as such they will want to know all their members in the FCT so there is no need for registration and Identity Card issued to every member so that if any benefit comes, it is only members who identified with the Association will be considered.
He seek the Emir blessings and support for this present Executive and promised not to disappoint the physical cluster in the FCT.
The Saraki who is the emir of persons with disabilities in the FCT in his response appreciated the visit. He pleaded his support to all the activities of the executive.
Speaking further, he was excited that the Executive decided to mobilize the support of the members, which indicates that they are interested in reviving the association in the FCT.
He promised to be at the fore front of the Executive quest to put the association back on its toes and urged them to always reach out to him whenever they require his support.
He also promised to pass the message to the six Area Councils about the new executive and the need for them to be part of the association by registering.
He said that the executive should put in consideration the challenges facing the colony as part of their advocacy. He mentioned that their roads are impassable, the school they built lack other basic learning materials and other problems of the colony.
The Chairman, Agbo Christian acknowledged the challenges and promised to adopt them in the advocacy messages as they begin to engage stakeholders on the challenges of persons with physical disability.
He offered the indigent members of the colony 5 free registration fee going by money paid by a member to register 5 indigent members for free.
