Sequel to the visit of the Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities Mr James David Lalu to the Hon. Minister, Federal Capital Territory Mallam Muhammed Musa Bello in his office last year and the subsequent appeal for job opportunities for Persons With Disabilities in the Ministry, the visually impaired Bature Abubakar has recieved a letter of Appointment as Technical Assistant to the Hon. Minister Federal Capital Territory.
The Appointment letter was handed over to him recently in Abuja in a brief ceremony by the Executive Secretary National Commission for Persons with Disabilities Mr James David Lalu.
While appreciating the Hon Minister for responding promptly to the needs of Persons With Disabilities, the ES reiterated that the kind gesture will go a long mile in proving that President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration means well for PWDs.
He stated that he gesture is as a result of Mr. President’s resolve to take one hundred million Nigerians out of extreme poverty in the nearest future.
Lalu further stated that the goodwill of the Hon. Minister is synergistic and as such means success for both the Ministry and the Commission.
He also congratulated Bature Abubakar for his Appointment and advised him to see himself as an Ambassador of Persons with Disabilities while discharging his duties as Technical Assistant to the Hon. Minister.
“Your success is indeed our success and this is significantly enhanced in sharing this triumphant moment with you” he said in a voice filled with emotion.
“it is hoped that you will display the highest sense of professionalism, dedication, patriotism and integrity in the conduct of this important assignment” he advised.
A friend of the Commission and a stakeholder in the Disability community, Mr. Misbau Didi who was present at the meeting thanked the ES for his fatherly dispositions and persistency in seeing to the welfare of Persons With Disabilities in Nigeria.
He also observed that the Executive Secretary’s resolve, single-mindedness and campaign on 5 percent inclusion and access to employment is yielding the desired fruits.
In his response, the visibly elated Bature Abubakar accepted the Appointment with a cheerful readiness.
While appreciating the FCT Minister, he also thanked the ES for being the “Pillar of goodwill” and prayed that he would never rests on his oars for on his shoulders reposes the hope.of PWDs in Nigeria.
Abubakar finally pledged his commitment and willingness to be efficient and a worthy Ambassador of persons with disabilities while serving in his new capacity.
However, the Appointment which is at the discretion of the FCT Minister and could be determined as such at any time as appropriate takes effect from Friday 11th February, 2022.
