The Board Chairman, kogi State Office for Disability Affairs, Hon. Arome Ibrahim had appealed to government, cooperate organizations and well to do individuals to come to the aid of people with disabilities (PWDs) who are victims of flood in the state.
Ibrahim made the appeal in a statement he made available to The Reporters on Friday in Lokoja.
He said the appeal became necessary because “life has been so difficult for persons with disabilities across the 9 local government areas affected by the the flood.”
According to the board chairman, while abled-bodied members of the society in the state, many of who are also affected flood, by can run round for survival in the face of the terrible effect of the natural disaster, the PwDs cannot do so due to their physical disability.
Ibrahim revealed that many PwDs were also victims of flood and needed to be assisted to recover from the shock of flood to enable them pick pieces of their lives again and move on in life.
Meanwhile our Correspondent reports that the volume of water has gone down with appreciable degree of receding a process that became noticeable four days ago in Lokoja and other 8 Local Government Areas of the state.
