Kebbi State Government Establishes Governing Board for People with Disability Commission

Birnin Kebbi – In a significant move towards enhancing the welfare and rights of persons with disabilities, the Kebbi State Government has officially constituted the Governing Board for the People with Disability Commission. The announcement was made in a letter addressed to the Chairman of the newly formed board, Anas Malami, and was shared with newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday. The letter, signed by Ahmed Idris, Chief Press Secretary to the Kebbi State Governor, disclosed that the board’s constitution received approval from His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State. The Governor’s approval took effect from August 28, 2024, signaling the beginning of a new era in the state’s approach to disability rights and governance.

In the statement, Ahmed Idris conveyed the Governor’s satisfaction with the formation of the board, highlighting its potential to bring about substantial improvements in the lives of persons with disabilities in Kebbi State. “I am pleased to inform you that His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the constitution of the Governing Board of the Kebbi State People with Disability Commission, with effect from August 28, 2024,” the statement read.

The newly constituted board will be led by Anas Malami, who has been appointed as the Chairman. Malami is known for his dedication to advocating for the rights of persons with disabilities, and his leadership is expected to steer the commission towards achieving its goals. Serving alongside him as the Executive Secretary is Abdullahi Aliyu, who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the commission and ensuring that its objectives are met.
