The Executive Director of The Qualitative Magazine TQM, Mr. Chris Agbo had an interview with The Chairman, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido as part of TQM activity of trying to get duty bearers make commitments and hold them by their words and hold them accountable to ensure that they promote inclusion of persons with disabilities while in the office.
In a visit accompanied by TQM crew and the Chairman’s special adviser on disability, Abubakar Sharhu, Hon. Candido spoke about his plan to provide access to the building where his office is located.
He also promised to start the process of implementing the Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2018 but demand that TQM make available copy of the Act to his secretariat drawing their attention to the sections that the Secretariat need to implement so that they can start implementation and his precedesors should as well as implement no longer on a matter of choice but what the law says.
He shared with TQM his perception about disability and persons with disability and revealed that he has a son and brother who are persons with disabilities. In his words ” I have a son who is deaf. He also said in another occasion within the interview ” I have a brother who is deaf and he valued education and made sure his children acquire quality education.
