Honorable Dr. Bashiru Dawodu, Member of the House of Representatives (MHR) for Oshodi-Isolo federal constituency 1, recently convened a pivotal meeting with executives representing People With Disabilities (PWD) in Lagos State. This initiative, in line with his electoral commitments and his position as the Chairman of the House Committee on Disability, signifies his dedication to advancing the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities.
Hon. Bashiru Dawodu’s appointment as the chairman of the House Committee on Disability in the 10th assembly stems from his extensive background as a medical doctor, coupled with years of valuable experience in the field. His leadership role underscores his commitment to addressing the unique challenges faced by disability community.
During the meeting, Honorable Bashiru Dawodu expressed his gratitude towards the executives of PWDs and emphasized the importance of collaboration.
He reiterated his unwavering commitment to acting as a voice for the voiceless within the community, recognizing the need for their voices to be heard and respected.
Furthermore, Hon. Dawodu reassured PWDs that his projects and agenda encompass provisions to cater to their specific needs.
He emphasized that the establishment and success of the committee were in pursuit of a noble cause, which could only be achieved with their unwavering support. He welcomed PWD members to approach his office at any time, pledging to maintain an open-door policy.
One of the PWD executives, Mr. Ojo Bamidele Ebenezer, expressed profound appreciation for Hon. Dawodu’s visit, emphasizing its positive impact on his self-esteem. He stated, “I never believed I would be sitting in the same hall with you, sir. This is proof that we are not forgotten and that better things are on the horizon, on behalf of the 8 clusters of the PWD, I say a very big thank you”.
Also extending their gratitude to Hon. Dawodu was the facilitator Hon. Israel Akiode Osha, the Lagos State Chairman of People with Disability. He stated, “I want to thank our honorable Dr. Dawodu for this visit. We are not ungrateful, and we believe we are in safe hands. This is highly commendable, and we pray that God continues to guide and bless you.”
