Hon. Olufemi Timothy has reiterated Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment towards creating an Inclusive society for all especially for persons with disabilities in Oyo State.
He made this assurance during working visit to Rehabilitation Center for the Disabled Persons, Moniya, Ibadan, Oyo State on Saturday, September 16, 2023.
The Executive Assistant (EA) to the Governor on Disability Matters, Hon. Timothy Olufemi in the courtesy visit to the Rehabilitation Centre was accompanied by the Special Assistant on Inter-faith, Reverend Femi Ibikunle, Former Special Assistant on Project Delivery, Hon. Biodun Oluwaseun, Former Supervsiory Councillor, Ibadan North, Hon. Akinsayo Musa and Supervisory Councillor, Ibadan South West, Hon. Oyedeji Olusegun.
Hon. Timothy in his speech said “The visit was part of Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to supporting people with disabilities in the State and celebrate with the people residing at the centre to bring moments of joy into their lives”
Speaking further, he expressed his deep admiration for the incredible strength and resilience displayed by the young residents of the centre.
He said, “it’s truly heartwarming to be here today and witness the boundless spirit and determination of these people with disabilities”.
“Our visit is a testament to the Governor’s commitment to creating an inclusive and loving society where every child regardless of their abilities feels valued and cherished as well as providing more resources to the center and other organizations that support people with disabilities in the state”.
During the visit, Hon. Timothy met with the staff of the school to learn more about the school’s needs.
He also toured the school’s facilities and observed that some of these facilities are in need of upgrade.
The Executive Assistant empathized the importance of such initiatives and pledged ongoing support for the Rehabilitation Centre dedicated to the welfare of the persons with disabilities.
This visit not only brought happiness to these people with disabilities but also highlighted the Governor’s commitment to inclusivity, social support, and compassion.
“We want to make sure that all children in Oyo state have the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their abilities” he added.
E.A. thanked Governor Makinde for the creation of Oyo State Agency for Persons with Disabilities and putting the right peg in the right hole in appointing a first class brain, Barr. Ayodele Adekanmbi, to head it.
Also speaking at the event, the former Special Assistant on Project Delivery, Biodun Oluwaseun commended the efforts of Governor Seyi Makinde for giving persons with disabilities a sense of hope by evolving programmes that take care of their special needs and situations.
He promised to continue to champion their cause at all time even as he assured them of his hundred percent loyalty.
S.A. on Inter-faith also prayed for these persons with disabilities and enjoined them to remain steadfast. He also mentioned that the Governor is committed to promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of the administration’s policies and programmes.
Hon. Timothy also noted, “we are grateful to the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion,Staff of the centre for their dedication and commitment to education of persons with disabilities in the Center”.
