In line with Governor Mai Mala Buni’s pledge to provide palliatives to the people of Yobe state to cushion the hardships created by the subsidy removal, 500 Persons with Disabilities have been provided with food items.
Governor Buni directed the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to support vulnerable persons with food items.
The beneficiaries were provided with rice, maize, beans, spaghetti, salt and food seasoning cubes among others.
Dr. Mohammed Goje, Executive Secretary SEMA, said the distribution of the palliatives will be in phases starting with the needy and most vulnerable group. “His Excellency Gov. Buni directed that we start the distribution with the most needy group and gradually reach out to other groups,” Dr. Goje said.
Gov. Buni had last week assured that government would provide palliatives to the people to mitigate the effects of the subsidy removal.
He said food items and other social needs like transportation would be addressed.
