CYS Produces WAEC Past Questions in Braille and Audio Files

For many years, blind students have depended on their friends to study past questions for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) examinations.

Centre for Youth Studies discovered this through a counselling session during the Access Bank Plc. sponsored life skills training programme with the blind students in King’s College and Queen’s College, Lagos State in 2021.

The gates of truly inclusive education seemed to be only partially open to these students and there was the need for concerted efforts to swing the gates open wider.

With determination and perseverance, Centre for Youth Studies, in August 2022, received the soft copies of the past questions from 2015 to 2022 from the WAEC office.

The braille work was duly commissioned for the 34 subjects run by WAEC,  viz: Literature, History, Commerce, Christian Religious Studies, Islamic Studies, Computer Studies, Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba, French, Geography, Civic Education, Mathematics, Visual Art, Catering and Craft Practice, Health Science, Health Education, Dyeing and Bleaching, Government, Agricultural Science, Animal Husbandry, Physics, Chemistry, Physical Education, Fishery, Biology, Business Studies/Office Practice/Business Management/Insurance, Economics, Book Keeping, Marketing, Data Processing, Home Management, Financial Accounting and Tourism.
