Christabel Otueroro Foundation (COF) organized a stakeholders forum on Saturday in Benin City, Edo State to discuss the importance of disability law in Edo State.
Hon.Amb.Dr.Florence Gbinigie (JP)Matron Christabel Otueroro Foundation and former commissioner Ministry of women affairs and social development in her opening remark appealed to Edo State Governor His Excellency Mr Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki to help expedite the signing into law the disability bill to help give a good life to people with disability.
Barr.Melody Omosah, the Executive Director Network for the Advancement for People with Visible Disability(NAPVID) and the speaker for the day spoke extensively how people with disability will benefit if the bill is passed into law, and also advise that the state government do the needful by passing the bill to law to protect the rights of people with disabilities in Edo State.
The highpoint of the forum was the presentation of an award of excellence to Her Lordship Ifeyinwa Nasiah Okoye the first person with physical disability to be sworn in as the President of the customary court in Anambra State, and the first person with physical disability to be be sworn in as senior magistrate in Anambra State Judiciary, and also recognized in that capacity by the office of the Anambra State Governor on disability matters.
The forum came to a close with a closing remark by the Onome Otueroro the convener and Executive Director Christabel Otueroro Foundation (COF)
