The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), Chief Ayuba Burki Gufwan, has extended warm congratulations to Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase, CON, following his appointment as the Plateau State Amir Hajj for the 2025 pilgrimage.
In a goodwill message made available to the press, Chief Gufwan described the appointment by the Plateau State Government as well-deserved, timely, and fitting, noting that Rt. Hon. Wase’s wealth of experience in public service makes him a “square peg in a square hole.”
Rt. Hon. Wase, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and current lawmaker representing Wase Federal Constituency, is widely regarded as an astute legislator and dedicated public servant whose career has been marked by commitment, leadership, and service to humanity. According to Chief Gufwan, these qualities uniquely position him for the demanding responsibility of leading Plateau State Muslim pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj.
The NCPWD boss stated that the appointment is a clear testament to the confidence reposed in Rt. Hon. Wase by the Plateau State Government, as well as a recognition of his long-standing contributions to governance and community development. As Amir Hajj, Rt. Hon. Wase is expected to oversee the planning and coordination of the pilgrimage, ensure the welfare and safety of pilgrims, manage logistics, provide guidance, and guarantee the smooth and successful execution of the sacred religious exercise.
Chief Gufwan expressed strong confidence in Rt. Hon. Wase’s ability to discharge his duties effectively, citing his proven leadership record and dedication to public welfare. He noted that the Amir Hajj role requires discipline, integrity, patience, and sound administrative skills—qualities Rt. Hon. Wase has consistently demonstrated throughout his political and legislative career.
“I have no doubt that Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase will bring his wealth of experience, leadership acumen, and commitment to service to bear in ensuring a successful and spiritually rewarding 2025 Hajj for Plateau State pilgrims,” Chief Gufwan said.
He further prayed for divine guidance, wisdom, and strength for the new Amir Hajj as he assumes this significant responsibility, expressing optimism that the pilgrimage will be peaceful, hitch-free, and spiritually uplifting for all participants.
Chief Gufwan concluded by wishing Rt. Hon. Wase a successful tenure, emphasizing that his leadership will contribute positively to the overall success of the 2025 Hajj and further enhance Plateau State’s reputation in the management of religious pilgrimages.
