AWWDI Appoints Ekiti State Health Commissioner As Ambassador On SRHR Of Women With Disabilities

One of the leading Organizations advocating for rights of Women With Disabilities, Advocacy For Women With Disabilities Initiative (AWWDI) has appointed Ekiti state commissioner of health, Dr. Filani Oyebaji as an ambassador for women with disabilities on Sexual And Reproductive Health Right (SRHR).

AWWDI team led by her national coordinator, Princess Bilkis Yakubu accompanied by Kolawole Jayeoba, program Manager, AWWDI and few other member of the group communicated this appointment to the commissioner on Monday in Ekiti during advocacy visit to his office.

AWWDI team is embarking on advocacy visits to strategic stakeholders in Ekiti state to advocate for an inclusive sexual and reproductive health rights for the community of women with disabilities.

AWWDI team in their speech solicited for the support of the ministry towards achieving the goals of the AWWDI Welead Hivos project.

The honourable commissioner who was accompanied by the permanent secretary of the ministry of health and other staff, in his response pledged total support of the ministry to ensure the success of the project in Ekiti State.

AWWDI Welead Hivos project is designed to advocate for the rights of Women With Disabilities in Sexual and Reproductive Health as well as building the capacity of women with disabilities to engage relevant stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of SRHR Policy.
