The former Vice Chairman, Nigerian Basketball Federation NBBF, Alhaji Muktar Adamu Khali a.k.a Malone has praised the enthusiasm of Gara Gombe, Hon. Ahmed Shuaibu Gara for organising inter primary schools athletic competition amongst pupils in Gombe State.
Khalil who is the former Zone 3 basketball President made the commendation in an interview with newsmen in Gombe, noted that such competition will promotes athletic games at the grassroots.
He said Gara Gombe deserved commendation for organizing such competition aimed at catch them young, stressing that very soon Gombe will dominate athletics events in the country.
Khalil explained that defunct Bendel state has adopted similar programmes in the past, and had yielded positive results.
“I have been following the Gombe inter Primary athletics championship through Facebook, I really enjoyed watching it. And hope people should encourage Gara Gombe in this regard,” he said.
The former National official urged Gombe state Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya to support people who have the zeal of promoting not only althletic events but sporting activities in general in the state.
He also called on wealthy individuals to emulate Gara Gombe in their various state by investing in althletics for the overall development of athIetics and other sporting events in the country.
