Abuja, October 20, 2024 – The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) is calling on the public for assistance in reuniting a young trafficking survivor, Mary Gambo, with her family. Mary, who was rescued in 2014, was just 17 years old at the time of her rescue.
Mary’s case is particularly delicate as she is Deaf and unable to provide details about her state of origin, making it difficult for the agency to trace her family. Despite these challenges, NAPTIP has offered her critical support, including counseling and enrollment at the School of the Deaf in Kuje, ensuring she receives both education and empowerment.
A Call for Help
The agency is now turning to the public, hoping someone might recognize Mary from the photograph released along with the public notice. “Any information that could assist in identifying her family or relatives would be invaluable,” NAPTIP urged.

A Second Chance at Family
NAPTIP remains committed to supporting Mary’s journey toward independence, but the agency believes reconnecting her with her roots will play a crucial role in her healing process.
“Every child deserves a connection to their family,” said a NAPTIP spokesperson. “We are hopeful that someone, somewhere, will recognize Mary and help her find her way home.”
The public is encouraged to share the notice widely to increase the chances of reuniting Mary with her loved ones. This is not just about bringing a family together—it’s about giving Mary a chance to reconnect with her past and build a future with those she belongs to.
