Thirty-five years ago, Florence Marcus faced a life-altering moment when her left leg was amputated above the knee. It was a decision born out of necessity but marked the beginning of a journey that would test her resilience, faith, and strength. “It has been a journey filled with tears, questions, and moments of wishing it never happened,” Florence shares. “But who am I to question God? He gives and takes, and to Him be all the glory.”

Growing up in a small village with a disability presented immense challenges. From navigating societal stigma to overcoming physical and emotional barriers, Florence’s path was far from easy. Yet, through unwavering determination, the support of her family, and her faith, she found a way to transform her pain into purpose.
“I have also experienced moments of joy, peace, and personal growth,” Florence says. “Witnessing firsthand how God transforms misery into a ministry has been a true miracle.”
Her story is a testament to the power of resilience, grace, and the transformative ability of a supportive community. Against the odds, Florence realized her dreams and has dedicated her life to helping others do the same.
A Heart for the Next Generation
On this special milestone, Florence’s thoughts turn to children and young people growing up with disabilities in similar circumstances. Her heart is especially drawn to the incredible young people at the Disability Affairs Centre in Kafanchan, formerly known as the Rehabilitation Centre.
“This day is dedicated to them,” she says. “I want them to know that they are not alone and that their dreams are valid.”
To celebrate this momentous occasion, Florence is planning a visit to the school in January, where she will donate assistive devices, educational materials, and dignity kits. Her mission is clear: to support their growth, well-being, and inspire hope for a brighter future.
