2023 Elections: ES, NCPWD James Lalu Urges PWDs To Repay APC for Enacting Disability Act

The Executive Secretary, National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) has called on fellow persons with disabilities to repay All Progressive Congress (APC) for enacting disability Act as well as establishing a Disability commission.

He made this call during a Disability Community Town Hall meeting with wives of APC Presidential Candidates on Thursday in Abuja.

The Executive Secretary of National Commission for Persons with disabilities in his welcome remark said that APC has been a blessing to PWDs in Nigeria, because from the formation of the party, they carried along PWDs and President Muhammadu Buhari took it upon himself to ensure that all the promises of the party to PWDs were kept.

“We now have Disability Act and a commission saddled with responsibility of implementing the Act, we have never had it good like the way we are enjoying APC, we are not where we should be but we are not where we used to be. There is a lot PWDs stands to gain from the party and PWDs should also repay the party for all the party is doing for the community by voting for the party massively in the Presidential elections.

Speaking further, he said that all that PWDs need is encouragement and enablement to excel because there are brilliant persons in the disability community who can occupy any important office in Nigeria, and he strongly believe that through APC, PWDs would be appointed to part of the governance in the next APC dispensation.  He urged PWDs to support the ticket of Bola Tinubu because he will carry on with the legacy of President Buhari in carry along PWDs.

Mrs Oluremi, wife of Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Candidate in her remark, promised prosperity and enduring economic stability for Nigerians, if her husband is elected as the President.

She assured Disability community that Tinubu presidency would carry them along in its policy.

According to her, some section of the economy is in disability and analysis of each sector would show a need to overhaul some aspects.

Sadiya Farouq, the Minister, Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, called on Nigerians to give APC another chance.

Mrs Farouq said the second chance was imperative to consolidate the achievement to improve the lives of persons with disabilities in the country.

Persons with disabilities present at the meeting raised questions on their inclusion in the areas of health, economic empowerment, education, and promotion of their rights and they were promised that disability act which guarantee these privileges and rights would be implemented to the later.
